Chitradurga has been identified as one of the locations for a national-level marathon under the Sashaktha Karnataka programme.
The Karnataka Budget 2026–27 announced national-level marathons in Belagavi, Gokarna, Chitradurga and Hampi, with funding allocated for each event. The initiative is aimed at encouraging athletics, fitness and wider public participation in sports.
The planned marathon can provide runners from Chitradurga and other parts of Karnataka with an opportunity to participate in a major sporting event.
