Dasara / Sharana Dasara Mahotsava

Dasara is celebrated throughout Chitradurga district with religious programmes, cultural performances and community events.

Chitradurga has a distinctive connection with the Dasara Mahotsava of Central Karnataka, particularly through the Murugha Matha tradition. Historical celebrations have included colourful processions and performances of traditional Karnataka art forms such as Dollu Kunitha, Veeragase, Nandikolu and Kamsale.
