Maha Ganapathi Festival

The Hindu Maha Ganapathi celebration is one of the most visually spectacular Ganesh festivals associated with Chitradurga city. Large Ganesh idols, decorated pandals, cultural programmes and processions create a festive atmosphere throughout the city.

The celebrations culminate in a major Shobha Yatre and immersion procession, attracting large crowds. Local reporting has described the Chitradurga Ganesh celebrations as a major annual event, with extensive arrangements made for crowd management during the procession.

For 2026, the main Ganesh Chaturthi falls on 14 September according to the Chitradurga-specific Hindu calendar.
