A tragic road accident occurred near Aimangala in Hiriyur taluk, when a private tourist bus travelling from Goa towards Bengaluru overturned and fell into a roadside drain.
Reports said that five people, including three nursing students, the bus driver and cleaner, died, while several passengers were injured. The students had been returning from an educational trip to Goa.
Emergency personnel and local residents assisted in the rescue operation. Police authorities initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The accident has once again highlighted the importance of careful driving, vehicle maintenance and highway safety, particularly on busy routes passing through Chitradurga district.
