Onion Farmers Watch Procurement Prices

Onion farmers across Karnataka are closely watching procurement and market prices as the Union government increased the onion procurement price to ₹2,125 per quintal, effective July 4, 2026.

The increase was intended to encourage procurement for buffer stocks amid a slow start to government purchases.

For farmers, procurement prices can have a direct influence on farm income, particularly when market arrivals increase during the harvest season.

Onion-growing farmers in Chitradurga and other Karnataka districts will continue to watch market prices, procurement arrangements and storage opportunities before deciding when and where to sell their produce.
