The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports has initiated arrangements for providing breakfast, lunch and dinner to athletes from Classes 5 to 7 staying at the District Sports Hostel in Chitradurga during 2026–27. The tender, published in August 2026, has an estimated value of ₹12.43 lakh and covers nutritional support for young athletes at the sports hostel. Such support is important for developing young sporting talent because proper nutrition, training and accommodation contribute to athletes’ physical development and performance. Chitradurga’s District Youth and Sports Organisation operates from Onake Obavva Stadium, supporting sports activities and development in the district

Chitradurga has been identified as one of the locations for a national-level marathon under the Sashaktha Karnataka programme. The Karnataka Budget 2026–27 announced national-level marathons in Belagavi, Gokarna, Chitradurga and Hampi, with funding allocated for each event. The initiative is aimed at encouraging athletics, fitness and wider public participation in sports. The planned marathon can provide runners from Chitradurga and other parts of Karnataka with an opportunity to participate in a major sporting event.

A volleyball tournament organised in Hosadurga highlighted the importance of providing young athletes with opportunities to compete and develop their sporting skills. The event featured a night-time volleyball competition, attracting players and sports enthusiasts. During the programme, participants were encouraged to view defeats as opportunities to improve and prepare for future victories. Local sporting events such as these can play an important role in identifying emerging talent and encouraging young people to participate in physical activities.

The tournament included boys and girls in Under-7, Under-9, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 categories. The top-performing players in specified categories were eligible for selection to the state level. The championship encourages young people to develop concentration, strategic thinking, patience and competitive skills.

Institute of Technology campus. The event was organised jointly by S.J.M. Institute of Technology, the Karnataka State Kho-Kho Association, the Chitradurga District Kho-Kho Association and Eagle Sports Club, Chitradurga. The trials provided talented players with an opportunity to demonstrate their speed, agility, teamwork and sporting ability for selection at the Karnataka State Senior level.
