Ugadi Celebrations
Ugadi marks the traditional New Year in Karnataka and is celebrated widely across Chitradurga. Families clean and decorate their homes, prepare traditional dishes and participate in religious activities. Bevu-Bella, symbolising the mixture of life's sweet and bitter experiences, is an important part of the celebration. Community and cultural organisations in Chitradurga also conduct Ugadi programmes featuring Kannada songs, folk performances, traditional dress and cultural presentations.
