The Agriculture Department of Chitradurga is implementing several programmes aimed at improving productivity and supporting farmers in the predominantly rainfed district.
Under the Krishi Bhagya programme, rainwater can be harvested through farm ponds and used for protective irrigation during critical stages of crop growth. The district agriculture department also promotes sprinkler and drip irrigation systems.
Other initiatives include PMKSY, Soil Health Mission, subsidised agricultural inputs and Bhoochetana, which aims to improve productivity in rainfed agriculture.
These programmes can help farmers conserve water, improve soil management and reduce the risks associated with irregular rainfall.
