Upper Bhadra Project Brings Hope to Fa

The Upper Bhadra Project remains an important irrigation initiative for drought-prone areas of central Karnataka.

A major aqueduct near Gonur is being developed under the project. The approximately 1.94-km-long structure is designed to convey Upper Bhadra water towards lakes in areas including Jagalur and Chitradurga.

Improved water availability could provide important support to farmers who currently depend heavily on rainfall. Irrigation can help farmers protect crops during critical growth stages and potentially improve agricultural productivity.

For Chitradurga’s farming community, the project is therefore closely connected with water security, crop production and rural development.
